you failed to follow instructions
you havnt explained what file exactly you flashed
you havnt said if you backed up your old firmware

the firmware you flashed has to be 264kb and not 260kb
you have to not deviate from the exact instructions i gave
if it is 260kb there is no space in it for the nvram to be added
which restults in this

you can short pins 1-2 together on powerup for a brief second on the puya flash chip
do not mess this up you can short the whole unit and kill it if you not careful
and it will come up on the internal rom
you can then flash the correct firmware that is 264kb

or if you give me a copy of your backup i can fix the backup so its flashable

Hello, the problem I'm currently facing is this:
When I short the SPI pins 1-2, 1-4, or 1-8, the computer only recognizes a USB mass storage device. The hard drive enclosure does not boot from the internal ROM. I'm not sure where things are going wrong.

does the flasher not allow you to flash it???
it wont show the drive when on the internal rom
but will be flashable

there is another way for forcing the backup firmware to be used just keep unplugging and plugging it back in repeatedly until it detects in windows device manager ok
this has to be a usb 2.0 port eventually it will boot from the internal rom without mounting the drive (the drive has to be inserted in the enclosure though)
it does not work on usb 3.0
i did it via a usb 3.0 port extension only half plugging it in every time so only the 2.0 pins connected

you can then flash the firmware with the flasher i provided making sure to follow instructions exactly
